“You Don’t Talk To The United States That Way!” President Trump Publicly Embarasses The “Nasty” Danish PM ~ illicit info

“I thought that the prime minister’s statement that it was an ‘absurd’ idea was nasty,” the President explained to the media on the South Lawn of the White House on Wednesday. He continued, “I thought it was an inappropriate statement. All she had to do was say, ‘No, we wouldn’t be interested.’”

President Trump went on to speak more about his dispute with Frederiksen.

“I thought it was a very not nice way of saying something. They could’ve told me no, this is something that has been discussed for many years,” Trump explained.

The President reminded that former President Harry S. Truman first brought up the idea of purchasing Greenland years ago.

“Harry Truman very strongly thought it was a good idea,” Trump explained. “I think it’s a good idea because Denmark is losing $700 million a year with it. It doesn’t do them any good. But all they had to do was say, ‘No, we’d rather not do that.’ Or ‘We’d rather not talk about it.’ Don’t say, ‘What an absurd idea that is.’ Because she’s not talking to me, she’s talking to the United States of America. You don’t talk to the United States that way.

According to Yahoo News, the President “used the occasion to take a gratuitous swipe at his predecessor, saying other nations ‘can’t treat the United States of America the way they treated us under President Obama.’”

Trump later took to Twitter to bash Denmark further while on a flight to Kentucky aboard Air Force One.

The President tweeted, “For the record, Denmark is only at 1.35% of GDP for NATO spending. They are a wealthy country and should be at 2%. We protect Europe and yet, only 8 of the 28 NATO countries are at the 2% mark. The United States is at a much, much higher level than that…”

Trump went on to tweet a chart showing NATO spending with the caption, “@NATO, very unfair to the United States!”

According to Fox News, CNN’s Don Lemon said, “This President wants to convince you that he is a tough guy, so he is picking a fight with Greenland.”

While speaking on Fox Nation’s “Get Tammy Bruce”, Tammy Bruce explained that Lemon’s reaction is a perfect example of the way the media misconstrues the President’s actions.

“What has struck me in this entire process with the media… is the fact that they have been mocking him for this, or that the idea of offering to buy or being interested in buying Greenland is somehow some kind of weird idea… once again the President being underestimated,” stated Bruce.

Bruce feels that Trump’s proposal, “is an indication, not just of the fact that the United States can think expansively again… but it tells you about the importance of leadership.”
