(NationalSentinel) Rep. John Ratcliffe said during an interview on Fox Business Network on Sunday that in order to prevent sending the message there are two systems of justice in America — one for the governing elite and one for everybody else — the Justice Department “has” to indict fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe for lying to investigators about media leaks.
“Here, you have the inspector general stating that Andrew McCabe did that multiple times, and the magic words, did so intentionally and knowing,” the Texas Republican told “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“I think the Department of Justice is going to have to indict Andy McCabe, simply because to do otherwise would be to admit that there are separate standards for people doing the same thing for the same conduct,” he added.
Radcliffe then noted how former special counsel Robert Mueller “made a cottage industry out of charging people like General Flynn and George Papadopoulos for lying to investigators.”
“I don’t know how you can’t indict him when he is engaged in the same conduct that other people have recently been charged for at the Department of Justice, particularly when your own watchdog says that those lies were done intentionally and knowingly and done repeatedly,” Ratcliffe added.
“You can’t really tell the public we’re going to treat people differently for the same conduct.”
Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe in March 2018 just hours before he was set to retire and collect a pension.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz recommended the previous week that McCabe be fired for lying to investigators reviewing the probe into Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified emails.
“Pursuant to Department Order 1202, and based on the report of the Inspector General, the findings of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility, and the recommendation of the Department’s senior career official, I have terminated the employment of Andrew McCabe effective immediately,” Sessions said in a statement.
Sessions went on to note that after reviewing the evidence and Horowitz’s recommendation, he determined “McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor − including under oath − on multiple occasions.”
“The FBI expects every employee to adhere to the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and accountability. As the OPR proposal stated, ‘all FBI employees know that lacking candor under oath results in dismissal and that our integrity is our brand,’” Sessions said.
